Horizontal cable systems

Horizontal cable based Mansafe systems

Gravity Solutions Limited offer cable based horizontal ManSafe® systems which typically use 8mm diameter stainless steel cable and componentry thus providing excellent resistance to corrosion and wear. The inherent flexibility of a cable based system allows it to flow around corners and deviations whether configured as a single system or as a combination of systems.

The Transfastener’s starwheel design allows continuous movement along the cable based system and eliminates the need for people using the system to detach and reattach to the system when changing passing intermediate anchors and deviations.

Constant Force

The capacity of any system depends on the strength of the structure to which it is fixed. The design of the Latchways Constant Force™ Post ensures that the load exerted on the point of attachment will not exceed 10 kN and therefore allows the post to be fixed to relatively delicate structures without the need to attach to structural members.

Constant Force™ Posts may be fixed to all major roof types:

When installed in compliance with the roofing system manufacturer’s approved procedures, the Latchways Constant Force™ Post will not damage the integrity of the roof nor compromise the roof guarantee. The top-fixing process reduces the effect of cold bridging and thus helps the building to meet the requirements of Part L regulations.

Traditionally Fixed

Our cable based Mansafe® systems may be fitted to virtually any substrate, providing that substrate is capable of withstanding potential loads, such as steelwork, concrete, masonry and timber. When use of the Constant Force™ Post is not possible then bespoke mounting bracketry in mild steel galvanized or stainless steel may be designed, fabricated and subsequently fixed to the structure.

To aid system design, we utilise a dedicated software package which allows the modelling and testing of alternative design and loading strategies. For any proposed design, by ensuring system loads and any free-fall distances are within the required safety factors, the software helps ensure that the right system is specified for any application.

Composite Roofs

The Latchways ManSafe fall protection system incorporating the Constant Force Post may be installed on all the major composite roofing systems. ManSafe systems operate horizontally and along inclines and can be designed to accommodate up to three simultaneous users.

The Constant Force Posts are top fixed to the roof sheet with stitching screws by a process that does not compromise the integrity of the roof. Equally important, in the event of a fall, all the loads generated on the system are absorbed by the Constant Force Posts and therefore no damage is impacted on the roof sheets to which they are attached.

To enhance the overall aesthetic appearance, the Constant Force Posts may be supplied colour matched to the roofing sheets.

Standing-Seam Roofing

The Latchways ManSafe fall protection system incorporating the Constant Force Post may be installed on all the major forms of standing-seam roofs. It operates horizontally and along inclines and can be designed to accommodate up to three simultaneous users.

The Constant Force Posts are top fixed to the roof sheet with four split clamps by a process that does not compromise the integrity of the roof. Equally important, in the event of a fall, all the loads generated on the system are absorbed by the Constant Force Posts and therefore no damage is impacted on the roof sheets to which they are attached.

To enhance the overall aesthetic appearance, the Constant Force Posts can be supplied colour matched to the roofing sheets.

Secret-fix Roofing

The Latchways ManSafe fall protection system incorporating the Constant Force Post may be installed on all the major secret-fix roofing systems. The system operates horizontally and along inclines and can be designed to accommodate up to three simultaneous users.

The Constant Force Posts are top fixed to the roof sheet with bulb tite rivets by a process that does not compromise the integrity of the roof.

Membrane Roofing

The Latchways ManSafe fall protection system incorporating the Constant Force Post may be installed on all the major membrane roofing systems including single-ply and bituminous on steel, concrete and timber decks. The system operates horizontally and along inclines and can be designed to accommodate up to three simultaneous users.

The Constant Force Posts are top fixed to the roof sheet with mechanical anchors or toggle bolts by a process that does not compromise the integrity of the roof. Equally important, in the event of a fall, all the loads generated on the system are absorbed by the Constant Force Posts and therefore no damage is impacted on the roof sheets to which they are attached.

To enhance the overall aesthetic appearance, the Constant Force Posts can be supplied to match the colour the roof membrane.

Constant Force

Latchways' use of patented Constant Force technology in the unique Constant Force Post simplifies system design and installation and so differentiates a Latchways fall protection system from virtually all others.

Constant force is defined as: "the mechanism used to provide a consistent method of absorbing mechanical energy and controlling tension within the system to a pre-determined constant force".

The Latchways Constant Force Post has an integral energy absorbing coil that, in the event of a fall, deploys in a controlled manner to absorb the force generated. In doing so it ensures that the load exerted on the point of attachment will not exceed 10 kN and so allows the post to be fixed to a relatively delicate structure without the additional requirement to attach to structural steel or purlins.
